More fun art!

This piece is the third in a series I have done recently on thoughts and stream of consciousness. I really love the face in this one and her lavender afro!! So pretty! I have repeated some imagery from all three pieces to make them more cohesive.

About Sara's Work

I paint watercolor, mixed media, and acrylic art.
My work is based on religious themes in a tradition that goes back thousands of years(i.e Leonardo da Vinci and Michaelanglo). I research symbolism, mostly Judeo-Christian, and incorporate these symbols into my paintings. Some pieces are more obviously religious in theme than others. I enjoy the way that symbols can be interpreted in many different ways depending on the viewer, but I do create my pieces with a specific theme in mind.
I like incorporating images from pop culture and juxtaposing traditional images with contemporary icons to comment on generational misunderstandings and reconciling the influences of the past with the trends of the present. The work of David Salle and Salvador Dali have influenced the structure of my work and the way I communicate in my paintings. I am also inspired by contemporary pop surrealists and street artists.
